Mark particularly focuses on large-scale infrastructure and construction projects, providing advice to clients through all stages of a project from procurement strategies to drafting and negotiating amendments and other ancillary documentation.

Examples of Mark’s expertise include:

• advising and representing Nexans on its agreement with ScottishPower Renewables for to supply and install approximately 100km of high-voltage subsea export cables and 55km of onshore cables for the East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm project in the North Sea;
• acting for Bovis in relation to the construction of a £300 million prison at HMP Fosse Way in Leicestershire for HM Government, including drafting and negotiating all key subcontracts and continued project advisory work;
• acting for a German manufacturer and installer of intralogistics systems on a number of its EPC contracts for the design, construction and installation of complex plant for major UK retailers;
• acting for an international conglomerate in its appointment of an EPC contractor for a non-PFI energy-from-waste project in the Northeast of England;
• advising Nexans S.A. on its agreement to manufacture and construct the Celtic Interconnector, the first subsea link for direct electricity exchange between France and Ireland;
• advising a multinational electric utility company on its existing construction contracts in relation to the construction of a 40MW solar plant in Peru;
• acting for an international Dubai-based contractor on its tenders for and subsequent negotiations of EPC contracts for large infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;
• advising a tier one contractor on its contracts for infrastructure elements of the High Speed 2 railway;
• acting for Bovis in relation to its appointment as main contractor in relation to a cut and carve redevelopment of a landmark office building in London’s West End;
• advising an international contractor on a consortium agreement in relation to the US$50 million upgrade of a petrochemical refinery in Doha, Qatar;
• acting for an international contractor in relation to its offshore and onshore EPC contracts for the construction of a wind power project in Laos, totalling 600MW in capacity;
• providing global training for an international energy and renewables contractor, with employees in 90 countries, in relation to procurement, FIDIC and other standard form construction contracts;
• advising a tier one engineering and maintenance contractor based in Germany in relation to its appointment to develop, deliver and operate the process control and safety systems relating to an international gas pipeline;
• advising a large real estate development company in Dubai in relation to its standard form documentation, including EPC contracts, development agreements and consortium agreements; and
• advising an international investor in the renewable energy industry in relation to its appointment of a main contractor for the expansion of a large wind farm project in Ukraine, totalling 500MW in capacity
