Client: International energy company
Region: Middle East
Industry: Oil and gas
The client was carrying out work on a project in the Middle East. Disputes arose, including in relation to money being withheld from the client, and as a primary issue there was a disagreement about which court in which country the disputes should be resolved in.
The client also believed that the employer was illegally withholding money owed to them under the terms of the contract. The employer obtained an anti-suit injunction compelling disputes to be heard in English courts.
Fenwick Elliott’s widespread experience of dealing with international and domestic disputes meant that we were able to provide prompt legal advice on the merits and costs of overturning the anti-suit injunction and the merits of the client’s claims.
The prompt legal advice helped clarify the situation and allowed the client to begin taking the commercial steps required to resolve the situation.
