Ahmed Ibrahim

Ahmed is a partner of Fenwick Elliott LLP and has been practising law since 1999. Fenwick Elliott is the largest construction and energy law firm in the UK, and one of the leading international law firms in international arbitration. Ahmed has been leading the expansion of the firm in the Middle East and North Africa, through its Dubai office since 2015. He has vast experience in handling cases involving major construction, infrastructure and energy projects, often with significant sums of money in dispute. He has extensive experience in civil law jurisdictions with an in-depth understanding of local laws and practises in Arab countries. Ahmed has represented regional and international high-profile clients in high-value disputes, and has advised clients for many years on projects in countries across the MENA region.

Ahmed has handled cases under most major arbitration rules, including DIFC-LCIA, Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration and Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA). In addition to acting as counsel, he has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator or chairman of arbitral tribunals in more than 100 ad-hoc and institutional arbitration cases. Ahmed was recently recognised as a Future Leader in Who’s Who: Arbitration 2018.

Ahmed practises law in English and Arabic. He read law at Cairo University, the American University in Cairo, Queen Mary University of London and King's College London. His studies particularly focused on arbitration and legal aspects in the construction industry. He regularly publishes legal papers and speaks at conferences on topics concerning construction disputes, arbitration, local courts practices and standard forms of construction contracts, this includes events organised by FIDIC, the Society of Construction Law, the ICC and DIAC. Ahmed also delivers seminars to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building CIOB.

Ahmed Elkordy

Ahmed Elkordy is a Mechanical Engineer and Construction Delay Analyst with experience in the construction industry including oil and gas, waste, power, residential, commercial and industrial projects. He has been involved in construction disputes in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Ahmed has acted as an appointed delay expert and as a delay expert assistant in disputes in the UAE and South Africa. His experience includes preparing expert reports and providing testimony in formal proceedings.

He has also prepared and defended extension of time claims and provided advice to clients in respect of delay analysis and extension of time on a wide range of projects. Furthermore, Ahmed has provided advice and supported clients in arbitration and adjudication, acting for the claimant, where he undertook the delay analysis and assisted with the claim preparation and the response to defence.

Ahmed’s additional areas of expertise include contract management, dispute avoidance and negotiation. In terms of negotiation, he provided support to clients in negotiations for settlement, arguing the client’s case by reference to his delay analysis findings.

Ahmed holds an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King’s College London and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a member of the Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers and the UAE Society of Engineers, and is a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute.

Adham Kotb

Adham Kotb has twelve years’ experience in the construction and engineering industries in the Middle East and the UK. He is masters qualified from the University of London and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has also studied civil law at the American University in Cairo. He is currently conducting research for a PhD in Construction Dispute Resolution at the University of Birmingham. Adham has major contracts, claims and dispute resolution experience in the Middle East and UK and has worked on a number of high profile infrastructure, building, utilities and industrial projects.

As a senior contracts and claims administrator, Adham worked on many commercial, residential and leisure facilities in the Middle East, on both the Contractor and Employer sides. Adham also worked for an international consultancy firm in the UK providing services on major civil engineering and transportation projects. His previous experience in design and execution of construction projects provides him with a robust background.

Adham currently advises on contractual and quantum issues and is regularly appointed as claims consultant for major projects in Saudi Arabia. Adham is familiar with most current standard forms of contract and is highly experienced with FIDIC Conditions of Contract. He is adept with both civil law and common law, and is familiar with Saudi law, particularly insofar as they relate to construction and dispute resolution.
